Anchorage Alaska Temple, 2026

The Anchorage Alaska Temple, ~2025

The Anchorage Temple will close soon for an extensive “reconstruction” that will consist of building a new temple further north on the lot where the Stake Center currently sits. After completion of the new temple, the original structure will be removed, and a new Stake Center built at that location.

This video has been put together from the Church’s official render, and by information presented to the city.

The Anchorage Alaska Temple, 2004

The Anchorage Alaska Temple was expanded just a few short years after dedication. The expansion added another Endowment Room, and a second Sealing Room. Because the temple had initially been built upon a small hillock, the expansion took the form of 2 stories. This expansion gave it a unique, asymmetrical look, and wrapped the temple around a small courtyard. After completion of the expansion, the temple was rededicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley.
